Face Swap Tools We Tested (SFW)

A face-swap tool is software that transfers one face onto another photo or video while keeping the target’s pose and lighting. Which face-swap tools did we check, and what do they cost?

All five are general-purpose creative tools with a face-swap feature, not adult generators; adult tools that bundle a swap function, such as the Ultimate plan at Pornworks, are covered in the undress-app rankings instead.

Prices are as published on the vendors’ pages or app-store listings on the check date; where a vendor hides monthly pricing behind a sign-in, we say so.

The pattern mirrors the adult category: credits obscure the per-swap cost, and weekly mobile plans exist alongside cheaper annual ones. The billing traps article applies here almost unchanged.

How does face swap differ from clothing-removal inpainting?

Face swap replaces identity; inpainting replaces a region. A swap pipeline detects facial landmarks in the source and target, encodes the source identity, and blends it onto the target’s geometry with color correction, which is why lighting and head angle matter more than resolution. Inpainting, described in our how undress apps work article, masks a region and synthesizes new pixels from context. Both produce synthetic media that the EU AI Act, Article 50, requires to be marked as generated or manipulated from August 2, 2026, and both fall under US image-abuse law when the output is intimate and the subject did not consent. What do the consent rules say?

None of the five tools shows a face-consent clause on its pricing page; the rule, where it exists, sits in the terms of service. Our position, set out in the face swap entry, is simple: swap only your own face or that of an adult who has agreed in writing, and never onto intimate or defamatory content. The law increasingly agrees.

TIDA requires covered platforms that receive a valid request to remove the content and known identical copies within 48 hours.

A swapped face on an intimate image is a “digital forgery” under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, punishable by up to two years in prison for adult victims, and several states add civil claims; the state deepfake laws entry lists them. Non-intimate swaps of public figures can still trigger election-deepfake statutes and right-of-publicity claims.

Which privacy details matter for a face?

A face is biometric data in several jurisdictions, so retention and training use matter more here than for a landscape filter. Pica AI states that entry-tier images are kept for 24 hours, the only explicit window among the five. Reface publishes app-store privacy labels through its listing; Remaker and Vidnoz describe credit systems in detail but say little about how long uploads persist. Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act requires written consent before collecting a face template from an Illinois resident, and two other states have comparable statutes. Which tool fits which use?

For a single photo swap with no watermark and no card, Remaker AI’s sign-up credits are the least friction. For regular photo work, Pica AI’s $9.99 monthly plan gives 1,000 credits, roughly 1,000 single-face swaps, although its 24-hour retention means you must download results promptly. Reface remains the choice for short video swaps, at the cost of a confusing set of weekly mobile plans. Vidnoz and Fotor are broader editing suites where face swap is incidental.
